We would like to inform the JAGS community of the death of JAGS alumna Ann Drysdale (née Corrigan) (Class of 1960), who passed away in August 2024.

Ann Drysdale (née Corrigan), 9 April 1942 – 16 August 2024

Ann Drysdale was a celebrated poet and editor, known for her wit and humor. Her work won the Dylan Thomas Prize for poetry in performance and numerous awards in competitions including Manchester, Cardiff, Peterloo, Bridport, and the Housman Society.

Born near Manchester and raised in London, Ann later lived in Birmingham, the North York Moors, and South Wales. She published poetry collections, memoirs, and Real Newport (2006), a guidebook to the city. Her most recent collection, Between Dryden and Duffy, appeared in 2005.

Her sudden passing was widely mourned as “a loss to poetry.
