We are very sad to hear of the passing of Sylvie Nolan who worked at JAGS from 1964 to 2005.

Sylvie started at JAGS as a cleaner but quickly became housekeeper and was made honorary assistant bursar by John Reid, JAGS bursar.  She loved working at JAGS and looked on the pupils as if they were her own children. She would frequently be found darning jumpers and repairing skirt hems ensuring all the girls looked as smart as possible. Her pride in JAGS was always evident whether ironing the school flag or endlessly polishing the school brass. Sylvie chose not to retire from JAGS until she was 80 – a place that made her happy and where she made many very good friends.

Sylvie was married to Bert who was Chairman of Wimbledon Football Club and prior to that had played for Dulwich Hamlet.  Sadly, Bert died in 1988 leaving Sylvie a widow.

Sylvie’s funeral takes place on Tuesday 4 October at 10am at Honor Oak Cemetery – all are welcome.
