It is with sadness that we share the news of the passing of Anne Smith (née Fisher) from the Class of 1962.

Anne's widower, Geoff writes:

"After leaving JAGS, Anne started her career working for Courtaulds in the City of London, as Secretary to Head of Government Relations. She left there in 1968, and joined Houlder Bros., working as Private & Confidential Secretary to Sir Charles Alexander Bt. Chairman of Alexander Shipping co ltd. Following changes within the company, she left in 1970 and spent a year working for Croydon Health Authority as a personal secretary.

"The first of her two sons was born in that year so she spent many years caring for and raising her family until 1986 when she started at Cory Towage, yet another shipping line, as PA to the Managing Dirctor.

"Ten years later, she started her last job working as PA to the director of Biggin Hill Airport. Based in the control tower, she always said it was the job she loved best. It also afforded her the opportunity to hold a JAGS reunion for her class year, the Class of 1962, at the airport!

"Away from her career, Anne loved foreign travel and her ability to speak fluent German, allowed her and her husband Geoff, to visit East Germany for 2 weeks, this was at a time when it was still under communist rule. A once in a lifetime opportunity!

"Anne developed breast cancer in 2016. It was caught early and she was cancer free for 10 years. Unfortunately, it reared it’s ugly head again at the end of last year, whilst at the same time, Alzheimers had started its cruel hold on her and she passed away peacefully at home on 13th February 2026. She will always be in the hearts of her Husband, 2 sons and 7 Grandchildren."
