In Memoriam |
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of JAGS alumna Angela Perry (née Lawson) in February last year.
Angela lived in South London all her life, married Denis Perry in 1952 and had three children. She always recounted her years at JAGS with pleasure and noted that in 1944 she attended a JAGS wartime summer harvest camp with Anita Brookner, who recorded the episode in a later memoir with a special mention of how much Angela's baking was appreciated on the farm.
She had a long-standing interest in education, and was for many years Chair of a board of school governors in Croydon. Also, as a lifelong Conservative, to many people's surprise she was elected shop steward in the NALGO (National and Local Government Officers' Association) trade union, and President of the union's South East Area. She was an enthusiastic motorist, and in retirement greatly enjoyed travel. Nicholas Perry
