We were delighted to welcome alumnae from the Class of 1976 to Founder's Day 2026 as part of a weekend organised by the alumane to celebrate their 50 Year Reunion. The next day on Sunday 28 June, they came together for lunch in London Bridge.
Alumna Susannah Levene, Class of 1976, said of the gathering:
"It was extraordinary to think that our A Levels were taken during the endless long hot summer of 1976 and here we were again, 50 years on, with the long hot summer of 2026.
It is a strange thing about reunions. For those who have not met for decades there is that moment of 'who are all these people?' and then as the names come tumbling out, the faces swim into view and everything clicks back into shared memories of classrooms, teachers, extraordinary events (turning the swimming pool red with a bottle of cochineal), much raucous laughter concerning collective memories recalling events both in and out of the classroom and above all spending all those years together day in and day out from through our school lives. We were the first Lower Sixth to use the (then) brand new Sixth Form block, we recalled that Houses disappeared for a few years, the unutterably grim summer dresses with which our year was tasked with 'helping' to design, the shared sadness of several classmates who died far too young, sharing life stories since last meeting up, disaster stories about cookery and sewing and the firm decision that we would most definitely not leave it for another 50 years before reuniting with each other."
It is always wonderful to hear of JAGS alumnae reconnecting and maintaining friendships that began during their school days. We are delighted the Class of 1976 alumnae organised a reunion and to see such a strong continued connection to one another fifty years on. Please scroll down to see more photos from the reunion.
