In Memoriam

Madeline Wright née Newscombe (a JAGS girl 1922-1931)

A really lovely Great Grandmother, Grandma, Mother and Wife

Madeline’s daughter, Daphne Huggett, sent a wonderful poem produced in honour of her mother’s 100th birthday in November 2015. On her birthday the family held an Open House when more than 50 friends and neighbours called in. The Headteacher at the village primary school in Kent brought two classes of children to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ and presented her with a huge bouquet of flowers and an enormous birthday card they had made and which had been signed by every child in the school. The children wouldn’t leave until they had all seen the birthday card form the Queen!

She was sent to James Allen’s Girls’ School
And became a JAG
Going off each day with her little school bag

She passed away in August 2016. In celebrating Madeline’s very full life, Daphne said, ‘Remembering a most beautiful and elegant lady’.
